Opening the Doors: Chamber Launches Quarterly Committee Access for Members

At the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce, we're committed to fostering transparency, trust, and a more connected business community. That's why we're launching Quarterly Open Committee Meetings – a new opportunity for our members to step into the room where decisions are made and see firsthand how the Chamber operates.

These sessions are designed to demystify the work of the Chamber, invite new perspectives, and strengthen relationships between our committee and our wider membership. The first of these events kicks off on Thursday 10 April at Slacksmith Partners, meeting start is 5:30pm with networking to follow.

What Can I Expect from an Open Committee Meeting?

These quarterly sessions are designed to create a welcoming, informative experience for our members. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A relaxed networking session to start the evening, providing a chance to mingle with fellow members, Chamber leaders, and industry professionals.

  • Access to observe the official Chamber Committee Meeting, where key decisions, updates, and strategic planning take place.

  • A firsthand look at how the Chamber advocates, supports, and grows the Gunnedah business community.

What Happens During a Chamber Committee Meeting?

While each meeting may vary slightly, the agenda typically includes:

  • Updates from the Chamber President and Executive

  • Marketing, Membership & Event Reports

  • Progress on Strategic Projects (e.g. Next Gen, Gunnedah Toward 2050, Business Awards)

  • Engagement with Local Council & Stakeholder Updates

  • Review of Finances & Governance Matters

  • Member initiatives, submissions, and upcoming opportunities

Who Will Be There?

You’ll be joined by the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce Committee, including:

  • The President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary

  • Subcommittee Leads

  • Project Officers & Event Coordinators

And of course, your fellow Chamber members who are eager to engage, connect, and contribute.

Can I Have a Say?

If you’d like to bring something forward for discussion or present during the meeting, you're welcome to! Items must be submitted in writing to secretary@gunnedah.org.au by Monday 7 April to be included on the official agenda.

If you’re just keen to observe, that’s absolutely fine too. Spectators are welcome to attend and listen in, gaining valuable insight into Chamber operations and decision-making.

Why We’re Doing This

It’s simple: the Chamber exists to serve its members, and that includes listening, learning, and growing alongside you. By opening the doors to our committee, we’re inviting more transparency, connection, and collaboration into everything we do.

We hope you’ll join us on this new journey toward a more engaged, empowered, and inclusive Chamber.
