As a Small Business Month special - October's Chamber Connect is co-hosted with Stewart Surveys. Stewart Surveys are the winners of the 2024 Gala Business Awards Excellence in Small Business and are excited to share more about what they do and how it serves local businesses.

Stewart Surveys are local people, with local knowledge and have been serving Gunnedah and Northwest NSW since 1985 in surveying, town planning, development and environmental reporting, and landscape architecture.

Some of the things Stewart Surveys will touch on include:

• Key Challenges faced and how they have overcome these

• Technology implementation to improve efficiency

• How they have been able to grow their skill set to fill gaps in the local services available due to operating in a rural community

• Current barriers being experienced by clients regarding Commercial and Industrial Development in Gunnedah

  • High startup costs resulting from Development Control Plan Compliance and Headworks Charges

  • Lack of available land for commercial development

  • Long approval times and red-tape

• As well as what they would like to see happen in Gunnedah including review of Headworks Charges, developer contribution investments, improvement in Gunnedah's Open Spaces, DA assessment improvements and so on.
