Under his leadership, the business continues to use traditional dry-pressed brickmaking techniques, including weathering clay for over two years and firing bricks in coal-fired kilns for a full week. This meticulous, time-honoured process produces bricks with distinctive textures that are highly sought after for both modern and heritage projects. Michael is actively involved in all aspects of the business from overseeing operations to working directly with clients on custom brick solutions — making him a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of regional industry.

Michael is a prominent voice in the conversation around vocational education reform, especially in rural and regional Australia. He has publicly called for the return of trade schools, addressing a critical skills shortage in sectors like construction, manufacturing, and agriculture. Highlighting that his business alone can loose up to $20,000 a week due to staffing shortages, Michael has urged for more structured and sustainable training pathways to better prepare young people for careers in trades.

His insights have been recognised nationally, including appearances on Paul Murray Live and coverage through ABC News.

Michael has been a long-serving figure in the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce, having completed multiple terms as President during the organisation’s time as Business Gunnedah between 2000 and 2015. In 2016, he took on the Presidency once again under the current Chamber name, where he focused on fostering meani ngful connections between local businesses and strategic partners. In 2023, he was appointed a Life Member and now serves as an Executive Advisor, contributing to long-term regional planning through initiatives such as the Gunnedah Toward 2050 strategy.

Michael is deeply connected to his local community, having served 20 years with the NSW Fire Brigade as part of the Gunnedah Brigade. He is a proud father and family man, sharing life with his wife Nicole and their four beautiful daughters. His ongoing commitment to Gunnedah reflects a deep passion for regional development, industry innovation, and leaving a lasting impact for future generations.
